Shared note

This is the Mr Andrews of the painting Mr and Mrs Andrews by Thomas Gainsborough. Robert is mentioned as a beneficiary and son in law in William Carter’s will.

From Bank of England Will extracts index: “Robert Andrewes of Auberies Essex Gent died possessed of £265-19-8 5 per cent Anns 1797 and on 12th June 1806 Probate of his last Will and Testament (with three codicils last dated 2nd October 1805) was granted at Doctors Commons to Robert Andrew s Esq and The Revd Charles Andrews Clerk the sons of the deceased the executors of Will dated 13th August 1801.

The said £265-1908 at the disposal of the Ex’ors.

Registered 3rd July 1806, London.”

Given his seat at Auberies, it is unlikely that this amounts to his entire estate.
