Shared note

William Harvey married Mary Steel on 28th April 1794. He had been married before. Not sure whether this is the William and Mary who are the parents of Samuel. There is another record of a marriage between a William Harvey and a Mary Rushton in Ch eadle parish in 1790: William HARVEY Sex: M

Marriage(s): Spouse: Mary RUSHTON Marriage: 27 Sep 1790 Cheadle, Stafford, England

A Mary Harvey was burried in Dilhorne on June 19th 1793. Could this have been William’s first wife?

One possible genealogy for William Harvey, all Dilhorne, Staffs.:

Father of William Richard Harvey (1741) m Sarah Pegg

Father of Richard Thomas Harvey 3/11(1707 m Dorothea Gallimore (23/6/1710) on 29-12-1732 Dilhorne

Father of Thomas Jacob Harvey (1/8/1665) m Maria Buxton pn 13/1/1684

Parents of Dorothea Gallimore: Jacob Gallimore 1684 m Dorothea Bullock in 1705

Parents of Jacob Gallimore: Wilhelmi/William Gallimore 1654 m Ana Beck on 3/1/1679

Parents of William Gallimore: Ralph Gallimore m Elizabeth in about 1635 (would have been married 18 years when William born!!)

But - the William Harvey with parents Richard and SarahPegg was not christened until 1779 - which if he was christened as a baby makes him too young to have married for a 2nd time in1794

Other children of Thomas and Dorothy christened in All Saints Dillhorn are: MaryChr1733 DorothyChr1735 JamesChr1736 WilliamChr1737 RichardChr1741 JamesChr1745 FrancisChr1746 CatherineChr1747 JosephChr1749

There is a very old grave behind Dilhorne church. The stone is half burried but some of the names are still visible. They are James, Francis and Catherine Harvey. There were other names on the same stone which appeared to be in the style of other s with 18th century dates. Could it be that these are siblings who died young or unmarried.

The stone is next to another stone inscribed for Thomas Harvey who died in March 178?

These stones are almost certainly for this family.

Another possible genealogy for William:

Christened 8/8/1766, Cheadle, Stafford Parents: John Harvey and Sarah Falkener IGI Batch C048522

or Christened 25/9/1774 Cheadle. Stafford Parents: William Harvey and Mary -- probably a little young to have married for a second time in 1794

or Christened 27 Oct 1766, Kingsley, Stafford Father Reve Harvey mother Elizabeth IGI batch P010441. On the same page of the parish register as William’s baptism is the burial of his mother Elizabeth, wife of Reve Harvey on 18th November 1766.
