Sarah’s marraige certificate confirms that this is the father in law of Issac Cooper who married Sarah Chadwick, available facts on location, age, occupations and names match.
In 1841 Joseph gave his occupation as an engineer (date of birth may be inaccurate as age of 40 on 1841 census may not be accurate) HO 107/986/12/40 p32 (16)

1871Living at Coal Pit Street, Audley. Aged 75 from Talk, occupation engine man living with wife Hannah, 70 from Baddley Green (this is different from previous census entries: could it be Braddely Green, which seems to be Biddulph?). Also living with him, John Sharples, 44 year old coal miner from Clifton in Lancashire and his wife Ann (looks like Amy) also 44, born Talk. John is recorded as boarder but appears to be son in law.
